Experience safety: First Goisern Safety Day at the market square
On October 3, 2026, the market square in Bad Goisern am Hallstättersee will become a meeting point for everyone who wants to not only understand security, but experience it firsthand.
From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Goisern fire department , mountain rescue , water rescue , the Red Cross , and the Upper Austrian civil defense will present their areas of responsibility, equipment, and operational scenarios. This is not about dry theory, but about providing real-world insights.
Particular emphasis is placed on dialogue with the public. Visitors have the opportunity to speak directly with emergency personnel, ask questions, and develop a better understanding of the challenges and decisions involved in operations. This creates transparency – and strengthens, in the long term, trust in the organizations that often operate quietly behind the scenes.
A clear focus is also placed on the involvement of children and young people. They should experience at an early age how diverse and responsible the work in security organizations is. Especially in rural areas, this is not a secondary issue: recruiting and training young people is crucial for the future stability of operational structures.
Safety Day is therefore more than just a traditional information event. It is a deliberate statement of community, solidarity, and active volunteerism. At the same time, it demonstrates how closely safety and quality of life are linked – a topic that is also gaining increasing importance in tourism management.
This is an important step for the region: safety is made visible, explained in a tangible way, and considered together – for locals as well as for guests.
