Steyr/Losenstein

The "Alpine rescue center Steyr" was founded in 1927.

 

 

In the years that followed, the Steyr local group, whose operational area stretched as far as the eastern Dead Mountains and occasionally into the Gesäuse, was one of the most demanded Alpine operational groups in Upper Austria.

​

Although 14 of the 19 Steyr mountain rescue service men who enlisted in World War II did not return home from the war, Franz Hilber and like-minded people immediately began rebuilding what is today the local mountain rescue service in Steyr in 1945.

​

 

In 1955, several registration offices such as Molln, Weyer, Ternberg and Losenstein were established from Steyr.

While Weyer and Ternberg dissolved, Molln set up its own local office in the 1970s

the Losensteiner Group developed under the leadership of registration office manager Schörkhuber Karl into a remarkable, powerful team.

Since 1999, the two task forces from Steyr and Losenstein have formed a joint one

Local office "Steyr - Losenstein", where 45 men work.

 

The operational area includes all impassable and alpine areas of the entire district of Steyr - Land. to the state borders of Lower Austria and STMK. carried out by the piste security service.
