Another deployment on the via ferrata

On Friday evening, September 11th, the Steyr/Losenstein mountain rescue team was alerted to a rescue operation on the Beisteinmauer via ferrata in Trattenbach.

A person's left foot got caught in a stirrup, they slipped, and injured their ankle. They were subsequently unable to descend on their own.

Mountain rescuers had to secure the injured person in the dark and rappel 80 meters to the base of the cliff using a Dyneema rope rescue system. There, the injured person was treated by a paramedic. They were then transported to the parking lot on a universal stretcher and handed over to the Red Cross.

Six mountain rescuers from the Steyr/Losenstein mountain rescue service were involved in the operation, as well as police and alpine police forces, the Steyr emergency doctor and the Ternberg Red Cross.
