hallstatt
story
The first rescue organization was founded in 1923 as the Hallstatt mountain rescue service. In 1945, this organization was incorporated into the Austrian mountain rescue service as a local office in Hallstatt.
The operational area includes the municipality of Hallstatt (approx. 60 km2) and the adjacent mountain areas (approx. 300 km2). In addition to the Hoher Dachstein (3000 m), this also includes the areas around the Simonyhütte and the Wiesberghaus.
